The commemorative coin `Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko` with the face value of
2 hryvnias is dedicated to a writer, cultural and public figure, the founder
of the household comedy genre in the Ukrainian literature of classics whose
the most popular works are `Witch of Konotop`, `A Marriage Arrangement in
Honcharivka`, `Khaliavskii the Gentleman`, `Shelmenko as Captain`s Batman`,
etc

On the coin obverse
there are depicted: above - the Small State Emblem of Ukraine and the
semicircular legend Íàö³îíàëüíèé áàíê Óêðà¿íè (National Bank of Ukraine), a
townscape, typical for the Eastern Ukraine of the 19th century; below there
are the inscription 2/ÃÐÈÂͲ (2/Hryvnias), the coin issue year 2008 (on the
right) and the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint (on the left).

there are Kvitka-Osnovianenko`s portrait and the legends: ÃÐÈÃÎвÉ
ʲÒÊÀ-ÎÑÍÎÂ’ßÍÅÍÊÎ (Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko) above in a semicircle,
and 1778-1843 below.
