The commemorative coin is dedicated to the year of the Ox, one of the
animal-symbols of the Chinese calendar, which is
based on the twelve year cycle of the Jupiter, the largest planet of the Solar
system.

On the coin obverse
within a setting made of conventionalized vegetable ornamentation there are
inscriptions: ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ/ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ/ 5/ ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ (National Bank /of
Ukraine/ 5/ Hryvnias); above there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine,
beneath: 2009, the coin issue year, as well as Ag 925, the designation of
metal; 15,55g, its weight in fineness and the NBU Mint logotype.

On the coin reverse
there is depicted an ox made in a technique of a cheap popular print within
a vegetable ornamentation setting (an ox's eyes are decorated with 0,01carat
rubies). Both above and below this composition there is a depiction of
contour figures of all 12 symbols of the Oriental calendar.
