Both coins were struck with the use of greening (patina making) technology.
The coins have been issued to commemorate the victims of Holodomor (deliberately
provoked famine in Ukraine in 1932 – 1933).

On the obverse of both coins in the center there is the image of a girl
with corn gleanings in hands standing in the stubble-field, on her both
sides – the viburnum branches. There is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine
on the left, the coin issue year: 2007 on the right and semi-circular
legends: on the silver coin – ÄÂÀÄÖßÒÜ 20 ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ (twenty 20 hryvnias),
the indication of the metal, its fineness – Ag 925, and the coin
weight in fineness 62.2; on the German silver coin – Ï’ßÒÜ 5
ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ (Five 5 hryvnias), on both coins there is the semi-circular
legend – ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ (National Bank of Ukraine) – as
well as the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

On the reverse
of both coins against the background of candle lights there is the image of
the cross with the stork inside and circumferential legends: ÃÎËÎÄÎÌÎÐ –
ÃÅÍÎÖÈÄ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÑÜÊÎÃÎ ÍÀÐÎÄÓ 1932 ÏÀÌ’ßÒÀÉÌÎ! 1933 (Holodomor –Genocide of
the Ukrainian People 1932 Remember! 1933).
