The coin is dedicated to the visit of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I to
Ukraine at the time of celebration of the 1020th anniversary of the
Christianization of Kyiv Rus.

On the obverse
of the coin there are: the Small Emblem of Ukraine with the inscription
ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÀ (Ukraine) under it and the inscriptions ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ (National
Bank) (above) and Ï’ßÒÄÅÑßÒ ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ (Fifty Hryvnias) (below) around the
circle; in the circle against the background of Dnieper and the left-bank,
the statue of Prince Volodymyr the Great, opened in Kyiv in 1853, is
depicted; on the left there is the year of the coin issue 2008 specified on
the ribbon.

On the reverse
of the coin in the circle there is the portrait of the President of Ukraine
Viktor Yuschenko holding the wreath with a lighted candle, light whereof is
imitated by the hologram, and of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I with the
inscription ÍÀ ×ÅÑÒÜ Â²ÇÈÒÓ Â ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÓ ÂÑÅËÅÍÑÜÊÎÃÎ ÏÀÒвÀÐÕÀ ÂÀÐÔÎËÎÌ²ß ²
