The commemorative coins “Christianization of Kievan Rus” are dedicated to the 1020th anniversary of the Christianization of Kievan Rus, which gained a footing for Christianity to become the state religion

On the obverse  of the 100 hryvnia coin there is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine and the circular inscriptions ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ (National Bank of Ukraine) (above) and ÑÒÎ ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ (one hundred hryvnias) (below) placed against the background of conventionalized ornament, between them there is the year of coin issue 2008 (on the right), designation of metal and its finenness – Ag 999, weight in fineness – 1000, as well as the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint (on the left). In the coin center in the circle of conventionalized rays there is a cross and the semi-circular inscriptions ÏÐÀÂÎÑËÀÂ’ß (Orthodoxy)(above) and ²Ç ÊȪÂÀ ÏÎ ÂÑ²É ÐÓѲ (From Kyiv all over Rus)(below).

In the coin center in the circle of conventionalized rays there is a cross and the semi-circular inscriptions ÏÐÀÂÎÑËÀÂ’ß (Orthodoxy) (above) and ²Ç ÊȪÂÀ ÏÎ ÂÑ²É ÐÓѲ (From Kyiv all over Rus) (below).

 

On the reverse of both coins there is a multi-figure composition of baptism with the inscription 988/Ð²Ê (988/YEAR) below and the semi-circular inscription – ÕÐÅÙÅÍÍß ÊȯÂÑÜÊί ÐÓѲ (Christianization of Kievan Rus) above.
