The jubilee coin is dedicated to Ivan Petrovych Kotliarevskyi
(1769-1838), an outstanding Ukrainian writer, public figure, the first
classicist of modern Ukrainian literature, author of the famous works – the
poem “Eneida” (Aeneid), the play “Natalka Poltavka” (Natalka from Poltava)
and the vaudeville “Moskal-Charivnyk” (The Muscovite-Sorcerer).

On the coin observeabove
there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine with the semicircular legend
ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ (National Bank of Ukraine); below there is the
coin face value 5 ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ (5 hryvnias), and in the centre – the
conventionalized composition representing Aeneas, a boat, a fragment of a
column from Troy and an helmet with the coin issue year indication 2009
thereunder.

On the coin reverse
there is a portrait of Ivan Kotliarevskyi; to the left and right thereof
there are lines from T.Shevchenko’s poem “To Kotliarevskyi’s Imperishable
Memory” ...Ïîêè ñîíöå ç íåáà ñÿº, Òåáå íå çàáóäóòü! (While the sun in the
sky shines, You will not be forgotten!) and semicircular inscriptions ²ÂÀÍ
ÊÎÒËßÐÅÂÑÜÊÈÉ (Ivan Kotliarevskyi) above and 1769-1838 (years of his life)
below.
