The commemorative coin is dedicated to Maria Ovksentiivna PRYMACHENKO, a
distinctive painter, representative of the folk decorative painting, whose
oeuvre belongs to unique phenomena in the world art. Her creative work has
played an important role in the development of folk decorative painting of
Ukraine, while her “animal series” have become an extraordinary phenomenon
in the world art.

On the coin obverse
there is a composition: the Small National Emblem of Ukraine with the legend
ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ (National Bank of Ukraine) thereunder, a
conventionalized Prymachenko’s work “Cosmic Space Horse” of 1983, under it -
the coin face value and issue year: 5 ÃÐÈÂÅÍÜ/2008 (5 hryvnias/2008).

On the coin reverse
there is Maria Prymachenko’s portrait against the background of her 1991
work “Ukrainian Sunflower”, above it there is the arcuate inscription ÌÀвß
ÏÐÈÌÀ×ÅÍÊÎ (Maria Prymachenko); on the left – the vertical legend indicating
her life years 1908-1997.
