The commemorative coin “Heorhii Voronyi” with the
face value of 2 hryvnias is dedicated to Heorhii Voronyi (spelled also as
Georgy Voronoy or Georgi Voronoï), a great scientist, one of the most famous
mathematicians of the world, which was born in 1868. Heorhii Feodosiiovych
Voronyi has enriched mathematics with a number of important discoveries
named after him. The range of use of his developments extends from the
computer graphics to geometric simulation and artificial intelligence
creation. Nowadays Voronyi’s works are used by specialists in different
branches of learning from practically all countries of Europe, in USA,
Canada, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, etc.

On the obverse there is the conventionalized image of Voronoi diagram; the
Small National Emblem of Ukraine (above); legends 2008/2 ÃÐÈÂͲ (2008/2
hryvnias), the semicircular inscription ÍÀÖ²ÎÍÀËÜÍÈÉ ÁÀÍÊ ÓÊÐÀ¯ÍÈ (National
Bank of Ukraine) on the left and the logotype of the National Bank of
Ukraine Mint

On the reverse there is Heorhii Voronyi’s portrait (on the left) and Voronoi
diagram (on the right), indication of the years of his life: 1868/1908 and
the bow-shaped inscription: ÃÅÎÐÃ²É ÂÎÐÎÍÈÉ (Heorhii Voronyi).
