Series: Outstanding Personalities of Ukraine
The coin is dedicated to 200th birth anniversary of Volodymyr Dal (1801-1872), a writer, ethnographer and the author of the well-known Russian language vocabulary. Dal came from Luhansk region, which was represented in his pseudonym: Cossak of Luhansk.
On the coin obverse in its centre there is a composition made of books, roll, sheets of paper and inkstand with a pen; above there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: УКРАЇНА, 2, ГРИВНІ, 2001 (Ukraine/ 2001 /2 hryvnia) and the Mint logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine.
On the coin reverse there is depicted Volodymyr Dal`s portrait, beneath depicted is a pen under which there is the conventionalized inscription: КОЗАК ЛУГАНСЬКИЙ (Cossack of Luhansk). Around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: ВОЛОДИМИР ДАЛЬ (Volodymyr Dal) and 1801-1872
