Volodymyr Bahlai Appointed BPMW Director General

According to the results of the open competition for the position of Director General of the Banknote Printing and Minting Works , Volodymyr Bahlai was appointed on 23 January 2018.

 

"Volodymyr Bahlai has been working in the Banknote Printing and Minting Works for already eight years. He has a profound knowledge of the sophisticated manufacturing process and an insight to all aspects of the Works, he fully comprehends the importance of compliance with high product standards. I’m certain that his expertize, history of taking part in numerous international negotiations and his unblemished business reputation will contribute to Volodymyr Bahlai’s performance on this important position”, noted Acting Governor of the National bank of Ukraine (NBU) Yakiv Smolii.

 

He added that one of the priorities of the newly appointed Director General is to strengthen the position of the Banknote Printing and Minting Works on the global market of security paper and banknotes.

 

Before his appointment, starting from November 2017, Volodymyr Bahlai was Activing Director General of the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works, since October 2015 he performed the function of First Deputy of the Works.

 

All in all, he has been employed at the NBU BPMW since 2009 and managed to build a successful career from a process engineer to First Deputy and Acting Director General.

 

Volodymyr Bahlai has a degree in the relevant area, in 2000, he graduated from the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” majoring in Technology of Publishing. He is fluent in English.

The NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works at present fully meet the domestic demand for domestic currency i.e. banknotes, small and circulation coins, as well as printing forms for securities, state awards and a wide range of souvenir coins.

 

The NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works have capacities not only to meet the Ukrainian demand for banknotes but also to manufacture products for other countries.

 

The annual production output accounts for nearly 1.8 billion banknotes, 1.2 billion circulation coins, 1 million commemorative coins minted of precious and non-precious metals, and 3,500 tons of banknote and security paper, as well as 200,000 state awards (orders, medals, badges to the honorary titles of Ukraine, badges to winners of national awards of Ukraine).
