6 July 2018

Press Release

On 13 July 2018, a traditional open research seminar will take place in the National Bank of Ukraine. Doctor Khurshid Djalilov, a researcher and a Senior Lecturer at Bournemouth University (UK), will present his research “Does bank regulation improve bank efficiency? Evidence from transition countries”.

In his paper, the author explores the effects of bank regulation on the efficiency of banks using system GMM and dynamic panel quantile regressions for 21 transition countries for the period 2002-2014, given the nascent nature of banking sectors in transition countries and their unique institutional settings. During the seminar, Dr. Djalilov will share his research findings with a particular focus on which regulations tend to improve banking efficiency in the transition countries and what important policy implications related to banking regulation in transition economies his study provides.

Dr. Djalilov is a Senior Lecturer in Strategy and Economics at Bournemouth University (UK). He holds PhD from King’s College London (University of London), where he taught in the past.

Dr. Djalilov works also as an assistant of the editors of Palgrave’s Dictionary on Emerging Markets and Transition Economies and as a reviewer for SASPRO programme of Slovak Academy of Sciences and Acta Oeconomica (a peer-review journal).
