The Council of Europe's Committee of Experts approves the Report on the progress made by Ukraine in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing

The National Bank of Ukraine welcomes the approval of the Progress Report presented by Ukraine by the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism of the Council of Europe.

  The Ukrainian delegation participated in the 40th Plenary Meeting of the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL), which was held on 3-7 December 2012 in Strasbourg (France).

At this Meeting, the Ukrainian delegation presented the Progress Report, with the Financial Monitoring Department of the National Bank of Ukraine having played a key role in its preparation.

The representatives from MONEYVAL member countries reviewed the progress made by Ukraine in 2010 – 2012 in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing, provisions of regulations in this area and statistical data.

The anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing measures taken by Ukraine were highly welcomed by the Committee of Experts. 

Following the discussions, the Progress Report was approved on 6 December 2012.

For reference: The Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) assesses its members' compliance with all relevant international standards in the legal, financial and law enforcement sectors through a peer review process of mutual evaluations. Its reports provide highly detailed recommendations on ways to improve the effectiveness of domestic regimes to combat money laundering and terrorist financing and states’ capacities to co-operate internationally in these areas. The MONEYVAL member countries are obliged to report to the Council of Europe on the implementation of recommendations provided by the experts.
