The BankID system of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) was established to ensure a convenient and secure access to public, financial, commercial, and other services that can be provided remotely and require identification.
Electronic remote identification of individuals using the NBU BankID system (BankID) is done by transmitting personal data of such individual from the subscribed identifier (bank servicing the user’s account) to the subscribed service provider.
BankID NBU Users (Individuals)
The main purpose of BankID is to ensure access to a variety of online services through safe remote identification. BankID can be used to receive administrative, public, bank, financial, and other commercial and noncommercial services. This service is accessible from a PC, laptop, or smartphone with Internet connection for any user having an account opened with a BankID member bank. Request and confirmation of consent to transmit data are provided only by the personal data owner.

How to become a BankID subscriber?
BankID subscribers are subscribed identifiers (banks) and subscribed service providers.
To become a BankID subscriber, an institution needs:
to submit the Application of Intent of Accession to the NBU BankID System and respective documents
to receive the decision of the NBU BankID System Council on approval of the accession to the system
to enter into the Accession Agreement to the system
to set communication between subscriber nodes with the central node of BankID
to enter into and comply with the clearing and settlement services agreement
to connect to the runtime environment
Please note, subscribed identifiers and subscribed service providers use BankID on commercial terms. Thus, subscribed identifiers (banks) have the option to monetize data transmission to subscribed service providers. Payment for user identification is charged directly to the subscribed service provider.
Are personal data secured in BankID?
Yes, BankID identification is safe for users. BankID does not store personal data of users.
All user data is transmitted encrypted by BankID affixing a qualified electronic signature or a qualified electronic seal of the bank.
Only the personal data owner can initiate transmission of this data from the subscribed identifier to the subscribed service provider. Identification data shall not be transmitted to third parties without the user’s (data owner) consent.
