National Bank of Ukraine continues its efforts to provide the Ukrainian military with transport vehicles and equipment

During 2014 – 2015,  within the framework of the charitable campaign to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the National Bank of Ukraine has handed over 90 motor vehicles to the servicemen performing  military service in the anti-terrorist operation area (hereinafter – the ATO).

Another 11 motor vehicles will be handed over in the coming two weeks: five motor vehicles will be transferred to the Department of the State Guard of Ukraine, and six motor vehicles – to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

“The regulator launched the process of handing over a portion of the fleet of motor vehicles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces a year ago – in July 2014. Over this period, we have managed to provide the Ukrainian military with transport vehicles and get rid of non-core assets,” said Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Vladyslav Rashkovan.

According to him, the cash-carrying armoured vehicles used by cash-in-transit couriers account for more than 50% of the motor vehicles that have been handed over to the Ukrainian military. “These motor vehicles will prove useful to the Ukrainian military, allowing the safe evacuation of the wounded from the areas of hostilities,” he noted, adding that two ambulances equipped with resuscitation equipment have been delivered to the ATO area.

Vladyslav Rashkovan is confident that the National Bank of Ukraine will continue its efforts to provide the military with transport vehicles as the regulator plans to halve the fleet of motor vehicles under a new transformation strategy the regulator has embarked on, which is aimed at disposing of non-core assets and streamlining the central bank's operational framework.

“In the process of centralizing the regulator’s functions, we plan to leave only some motor vehicles in service at the regional offices, including motor vehicles used for business and maintenance purposes. The remaining motor vehicles will be prepared to be handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” explained Vladyslav Rashkovan.

He expressed hope that the Ukrainian servicemen who defend the lives of the Ukrainian people and guard the country's borders would benefit from the assistance provided by the National Bank of Ukraine.
