National Bank of Ukraine puts two new commemorative coins into circulation

On 12 September, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation two new commemorative coins –"150 years of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine" (issued in two face values) and "The Poet’s House" (devoted to the centenary of the Maximilian Voloshin House Museum).

 

 

 

Mr Viktor Nesterenko, Director of General Department for Regulation of Cash Circulation, has said that remarkable cultural significance is attached to both commemorative coins. One of the coins is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of one of the oldest concert halls in our country, while the other coin is devoted to the centenary of the completion of construction of the House where poet Maximilian Voloshin lived.

 

The coin "150 years of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine" of 5 hryvnia face value has been made of silver, with its mintage amounting to 3, 000 pieces. The commemorative coin of 2 hryvnia face value has been made of German silver. The total mintage figure for this coin is 20, 000 pieces. Designer and engraver – Volodymyr Atamanchuk.

 

"Composer Mykola Lysenko, folklorist Rigelman, amateur composer Petro Seletskyi and many other famous artists and prominent public figures were among the founders of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, which was established in 1863," noted Mr Viktor Nesterenko.

 

The coin “"The Poet’s House"(devoted to the centenary of the Maximilian Voloshin House Museum)” has been made of German silver. The total mintage figure for this coin is 20, 000 pieces. Designers: Mariia Skoblikova and Oleksandr Kuzmin. Engravers: Sviatoslav Ivanenko and Anatolii Demianenko.

 

"In Koktebel, on the very shore of a picturesque bight, at the foot of the dateless extinct volcano Kara Dag, there is an unusual house preserving a lot of real objects and legends of the 20th century, founded by Maximilian Voloshin for communication and creative work. The House has been visited by many generations of the creative intelligentsia," said the Director of General Department for Regulation of Cash Circulation.

The commemorative coins of Ukraine are of great artistic and numismatic value.

 

The commemorative coins are available for sale at the regional branches of the National Bank of Ukraine and NBU distributors engaged in selling commemorative coins.

All the commemorative coins are a legal tender of Ukraine and shall be accepted without any restrictions at their face values for all types of payments as well as for placing to the settlement accounts, on deposits, for letters of credit and transfers.
