Purpose: Mutual learning and exchange of knowledge and experience in improving financial literacy in the region.
The project aims to support the NBU in improving the public’s financial literacy and education by advising on the development and implementation of financial literacy strategies and initiatives. Granting Ukraine the status of a full member of the project means that it will be able to participate in the annual meetings of the Technical Committee, working groups, and other activities of the International Network for Financial Education of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD/INFE).
The project includes three different areas of work in the following priority areas:
- research: collecting data and analyzing the level of financial literacy of the adult population, analyzing regional experience in implementing national financial literacy strategies
- implementation: study visits and virtual workshops to support the implementation of national financial literacy strategies
- exchange of experience: face-to-face annual meetings to assess progress and manage the workflow.
Products implemented for the NBU, and key events:
- consulting assistance was provided by the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and MoneyWise, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, the central banks of Italy and France in developing, launching and advertising the financial literacy website “Harazd”
- seminars were held on “Financial Education: Training of Teachers” (2023) and “Inclusion of Financial Education in the School Curriculum: Experience of the Region” (2024)
- a solemn meeting of the countries participating in the second stage of the technical assistance project on financial education under the regional program of the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was held on 23-24 November 2023 in The Hague, the Netherlands, with the participation of an NBU delegation.
