Manuel Mosquera Tarrio, PhD Candidate in Economics at The University of Manchester will present the research paper Learning Under Multiple Information Sets. The author uses evidence from Argentina when multiple public inflation statistics were available to analyse how individuals form inflation expectations. According to the study, individuals use their own consumption experience to form inflation expectations. Researcher models expectations through a Bayesian learner to differentiate between the effect of information uncertainty and price dispersion. The findings suggest that even with a unique inflation statistic, inflation experience may affect economic decisions and outcomes if there are doubts about the quality of public information.
