On 24 June 2019, the National Bank of Ukraine will host an open research seminar, during which which Professor Xin Zhang from Sveriges Riksbank will discuss international spillovers from central bank communications.
During the seminar, Mr Zhang will present the paper entitled Spread the Word: International Spillover Effects from Central Bank Communications that he co-authored with Hanna Armelius, Christoph Bertsch, and Isaiah Hull from Sveriges Riksbank. Using a dataset on central bank communications in 23 countries over the 2002 – 2017 period, the authors show the interconnection between messages from regulators and the effectiveness of monetary policy.
Xin Zhang is a senior economist at the Research Division of Sveriges Riksbank. He holds a PhD in finance from VU University Amsterdam and Tinbergen Institute. His research areas include time series econometrics, financial economics, credit risk and quantitative finance.
The seminar will be held in English.

The seminar starts at 2:00 p.m. The registration of participants will take place from 1:45 to 1:55 p.m. The NBU is a restricted access facility, and a photo ID is required to be admitted.

Applications must be submitted by 2 p.m. on 21 June 2019. A limited number of slots are available, and the NBU reserves the right to accept or reject applications. The NBU launched open research seminars in July 2015. These seminars provide representatives of the academic and expert community, international financial institutions, the NBU and other central banks with the opportunity to share their research findings and discuss them with their peers.
