The NBU has issued clarifications for the banks of Ukraine on the purchase of foreign currency and the transfers from Ukraine for the smooth purchase of critical imports. In particular, they cover:

  • the list of goods categorized as critical imports
  • the guidelines on how to work with customers to ensure proper conditions for such operations
  • the list of contact persons for resolving additional urgent issues related to critical imports.

As previously reported, on 24 February 2022, the NBU allowed banks to purchase foreign currency and make transfers from Ukraine to ensure that residents can make import transactions by residents to buy critical imports.

The NBU and the banking system of Ukraine will continue to work in a coordinated manner and jointly defend the financial system of Ukraine.
