On 13 February 2017, NBU starts diagnostics of assets quality and capital adequacy of 37 banks, which have not passed the procedure yet.
“In 2015-2016 NBU performed diagnostics of first 60 banks by assets amount. Now it’s time to do it for the rest of the banks, assets amount of which is less than 2% of banking system assets. This process will be held in two stages - before 1 June and 1 August 2017; for some time reconciliation of diagnostics outcomes with banks will be still underway and if needed, formation of capitalization programs based on results”, comments Ms Kateryna Rozhkova, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.
21 banks out of 60 top banks, which passed diagnostics, did not require capitalization right from the start, 9 banks implemented capitalization programs approved by NBU in full scope as of early February, 4 banks (Khreshchatyk, Fidobank, Platinum Bank and Fortuna-Bank) are deemed insolvent for nonobservance of capitalization programs. 26 banks fulfill obligations regarding capitalization according to schedule approved.
