NBU Calls on China UnionPay and UnionPay International to Withdraw from russian Market

The National Bank of Ukraine addressed China UnionPay and UnionPay International requesting the companies to withdraw from the payment market of the russian federation.

Namely, the NBU requests to cease all transaction with payment cards of China UnionPay and UnionPay International both in the russian federation and payment cards issued by russian banks that are used abroad.

“We cherish our cooperation with UnionPay International and hope for its fruitful continuation. At the same time, considering the unprecedented cruelty and blatant disregard of fundamental human values of russian invasion on peaceful Ukraine, we kindly ask you to make a contribution into restoring peace in Ukraine and cease your operation in the russian federation,” said NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko.

Please be reminded that a range of international payment systems, such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, and PayPal, have already voiced their support for Ukraine and publicly announced ceasing cooperation with banks of the russian federation.
