The National Bank of Ukraine has created the appropriate conditions for meeting the needs of participants of the System of Electronic Payments of the National Bank of Ukraine (hereinafter - SEP) for transferring funds and ensured a high level of security and reliability of interbank hryvnia transfers through this system.
In 2017, 331.635 thousand initial payments were made through SEP for the amount of UAH 20.937 billion, which is 6% higher in quantity and 7% higher in amount than in 2016 (312.667 thousand initial payments for the amount of UAH 19.521 billion).
SEP provides inter-bank transfer in a batch mode and real-time mode. Over the past year, 330.677 thousand initial paymentsfor the amount of UAH 14.216 billion were made in a batch mode, and 958 thousand initial payments for the amount of UAH 6.721 billion - in a real-time mode.
The majority of initial payments in 2017 was sent to the system by the banks of Ukraine and their branches – 309.077 thousand of initial payments (93% of their total amount).
In 2017, during an average day SEP processed 1.337 thousand initial payments for the amount of UAH 84 billion.
The average daily balance on the accounts of the SEP participants amounted to UAH 89.57 billion, while the average daily turnover rate on the accounts of the participants of the system was 0.94 (in 2016 - 1.36).
In November 2017 the regulator put into operation a new modernized generation of SEP. The introduction of a new generation of SEP has fundamentally improved the quality of operation, performance and reliability of SEP and created the basis for its further development.

NBU System of Electronic Payment (SEP) - the state bank payment system for interbank money transfers through correspondent accounts of resident banks opened at the NBU.
The NBU is the payment institution and settlement bank for SEP.
SEP is the only one systemically important payment system in Ukraine. It ensures 97% of interbank transfers in domestic currency within Ukraine.
As of 1 January 2018, 178 institutions were SEP participants, including:
85 – banks of Ukraine;
65 – branches of the banks of Ukraine;
27 - State Treasury Service of Ukraine and its authorities;
1 - National Bank of Ukraine.
