Ukraine Joins Global Money Week 2019

As many as 1,435 children and university students participated in NBU-hosted events during the Global Money Week of 25–31 March 2019.

“The NBU has always been an enthusiastic participant in educational initiatives aimed at increasing financial literacy. Central banks have long promoted financial literacy in what is an imperative of our time and a part of their mandate, rather than a whim or a goodwill gesture. We are confident that a financially informed society creates better conditions for financial stability and the overall wellbeing of the population. That is why we will continue to make efforts to increase financial literacy. As soon as this summer, we will unveil a comprehensive strategy on financial literacy,” said NBU Deputy Governor Roman Borysenko.

Traditionally, the NBU is the central venue for the educational activities.

During the Global Money Week, the central bank hosted 56 separate events, including:

  • 7 lectures on finance
  • 2 workshops on personal budget management
  • 2 interactive educational classes
  • 1 intellectual game ”What? Where? How Much?”
  • 4 workshops on debating techniques
  • 4 debate sessions
  • 36 tours of the NBU building

The Global Money Week at the NBU was supported by the USAID Transformation Financial Sector Project.
