Today, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva, First Deputy Governor Oleksandr Pysaruk and Deputy Governor Vladyslav Rashkovan have met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew.
The meeting also featured Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt, the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Ms. Laurie Richardson, Deputy Chief of Staff at U.S. Department of the Treasury, Mr. Matt Malloy, Director of the Office of Europe and Eurasia under Secretary for International Affairs at U.S. Department of the Treasury, Mr. Brian Seel U.S. Treasury Attaché to Ukraine at U.S. Department of the Treasury, and Mr. Andrew Kvam, Special Assistant to the U.S. Treasury Secretary.
The meeting participants discussed cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and the importance attached to the accumulation of the NBU's international reserves. In addition, the meeting participants paid attention to the rehabilitation of the banking sector, particularly the stress testing of banks and additional capitalization of financial institutions, unwinding of related party lending and disclosure of banks' ultimate beneficial owners.
The sides reached an agreement on closer cooperation between the two countries at both high- and expert levels.
