Nominal: 500 uah
Release date: 29.12.2022

Description:
This banknote marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hryhorii Skovoroda – a unique, extraordinary, eminent personality, whose work remains relevant throughout the ages.
For anyone who has ever read Skovoroda’s works, he is not merely a wandering philosopher, writer and historian, but also a person who inspires many generations into action, while his written legacy serves as "an instrument of various ideas and perspectives”.
The philosopher thought that the main thing in life was a sense of freedom: “What is freedom? What good is there in it? Isn’t it like gold, they say? Certainly not, it’s not gold: compared to freedom, gold is just a swamp. Oh, If only I didn’t make a fool of myself, I wouldn’t live a day without freedom...” [poem “De libertate” (About freedom”)].
Today, the entire world is witnessing what Ukrainians can do to protect their freedom, and can see the unbearably high price they are paying for it!

Archangel Michael
Nominal: 10 uah
Circulation start date: 14.12.2022
Material: silver
Description:
This coin celebrates Archangel Michael – one of the most revered biblical characters, who is called the chief commander of the Heavenly Host. Archangel Michael is a steadfast fighter against evil forces, defender of the faith, and the patron of soldiers who fight for just causes and protect the good.
Archangel Michael has been revered since the time of the Kyiv Rus State – he was a symbol of the heavenly protection of the power of Kyiv Rus princes. Later on, this reverence was manifested not only in toponyms – in the names of church buildings, but also in heraldry – on the coats of arms of Kyiv, the Voivodeship of Kyiv, and the Province of Kyiv. Today, his image is found in the attributes of Ukrainian paratroopers, embodying once again the fight against evil.
Obverse: above is Ukraine’s small coat of arms, below which is the legend УКРАЇНА (Ukraine); against the background of a pattern made of stylized Old Rus Kyiv-type hryvnias – used as a unit of weight and counting and a monetary unit – is a stylized wreath made of laurel leaves; at the bottom of the coin are its face value 10 and the graphic symbol of the hryvnia; in the center, in an octagonal cartouche, against a smooth background, is the NBU logotype, below which is the following legend: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ/ БАНК УКРАЇНИ/2022 (National/Bank of Ukraine/2022).
Reverse: against a smooth backdrop, is an image of Archangel Michael (decorative element – local gilding); there is a circular legend, reading: …ЗА НАС І ДУШІ ПРАВЕДНИХ, І СИЛА АРХІСТРАТИГА МИХАЇЛА (...the souls of the righteous and the power of Archangel Michael are with us) (from the Haidamaky poem by Taras Shevchenko); the lines are written in ChebanykSansN.2017 © VasylChebanyk script.
