On September 11, 2014, Serhii Ponomarenko was appointed Head of the NBU Office for Foreign Exchange Operations and Financial Market Analysis.
The National Bank of Ukraine is moving ahead with plans to build an efficient system of governance and enhance the professional capacity of the National Bank of Ukraine. As part of these efforts, the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine has adopted a decision to carry out a reshuffle of the Department of Foreign Exchange Reserve Management and Open Market Operations through the establishment of the Office for Open Market Operations and Government Securities Allocation and the Office for Foreign Exchange Operations and Financial Market Analysis.
Serhii Ponomarenko, who has 21 years of experience in the banking industry, has been appointed Head of the Office for Foreign Exchange Operations and Financial Market Analysis.
Serhii Ponomarenko graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where he majored in Economic and Social Planning. He is fluent in English.
From 1993 to 2014, he was employed by JSC “West-Ukrainian Commercial Bank”, PJSC CB "PRAVEX-BANK", CB “NADRA”, and PJSC “Universal Bank”. Serhii Ponomarenko has worked his way up in the banking industry from specialist to Director of the Treasury Department. From 2011 to 2014, he served as a member of the Management Board of PJSC “Universal Bank”.
