Today the National Bank of Ukraine held a regular foreign exchange auction and satisfied almost 100% bids for the purchase of foreign exchange. The central bank was ready to sell USD 200 million if there was demand from the market.
The regulator received 51 bids, of which it accepted 50 bids from 24 banks for a total of USD 134.6 million. The National Bank of Ukraine sold foreign exchange at one and the same exchange rate UAH 12.95 per USD 1.
As Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriia Gontareva noted, the exchange rate at UAH 12.95 per USD 1 has a positive impact on the balance of payments and ensures economic security of Ukraine.
Participation in the auction is open to all banks without exception. Banks may submit unlimited number of bids to meet the needs of their clients for foreign exchange. The minimum bid amount is not less than USD 500 thousand.
Under the rules of the auction, banks that fail to remit the required amount of funds on time and in full to the National Bank of Ukraine are refused admission to the auction.
