Ukrainian official delegation takes part in 2012 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group

The official Ukrainian delegation participated in 2012 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, which were held in Washington on 19-23 April 2012. The delegation was spearheaded by Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Sergiy Arbuzov, being a governor from Ukraine in the IMF Board of Governors. During the visit to Washington, the Ukrainian delegation took part in all the main events: meetings of the regional group of countries in the IMF and World Bank, Ukraine being a member whereof, a two-day International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) Meeting.

The meetings were focused on ways to overcome and stave off a new outbreak of the global financial crisis, the development and improvement in activities of organizations, in particular, issues related to reforming the management system of the IMF and quotas were canvassed.

Simultaneously, during the visit to Washington the Ukrainian delegation held a number of bilateral meetings with the IMF’s management and representatives of the IMF Mission to Ukraine. In the course of these meetings, the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine informed the senior officials of the International Monetary Fund about inflation developments in our country, the key monetary policy measures and noted some improvement in the banking sector of Ukraine, which had delivered a profitable performance for the first time in the post-crisis period. Apart from that, the Head of the Ukrainian delegation raised issues related to the fiscal policy and the energy sector situation.
