National Bank of Ukraine has sold the bullion coins worth UAH 40 million since the start of the year

There is a strong demand for the bullion coins of Ukraine among the population. The National Bank of Ukraine has sold the bullion coins worth UAH 40 million over the last 10 months.

The advantages of bullion coins are obvious: their value is not dependent on the economic situation in the country and inflation; they prove to be highly liquid instruments that can be bought or sold at any time. What is more, it is regarded as a beautiful gift.

”As of 1 November 2012, the National Bank of Ukraine has sold 13.5 thousand bullion coins, including 5 thousand gold coins and 8.5 thousand silver ones”, said Ms. Tamara Loshmanova, Head of the NBU Office for Numismatic Products and Marketing. She added: “Transactions in bullion coins are increasing by the day”.

This is facilitated by NBU’s continued efforts to ramp up sales in order to meet the growing demand for bullion coins from the population.

At present, 33 authorized banks and regional branches of the National Bank of Ukraine are engaged in selling and repurchasing bullion coins on very beneficial terms for citizens.

In addition, Ms. Tamara Loshmanova said that the National Bank of Ukraine was planning to conclude agreements with several large banks with a wide network of branches that would act as distributors selling bullion coins and turn over bullion coins to them without advance prepayment.

Recently-released statistics suggest that there is a strong demand for bullion coins in Kyiv, Odessa, Lviv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.

The foreign experts and numismatists have highly appreciated the quality and design of the Ukrainian bullion coins. In particular, the National Bank of Ukraine has received an invitation from overseas numismatic society to participate in the program “The Legendary fifteen”. Under this program, the coin collection is made up of fifteen most famous silver bullion coins that meet the criteria for design and quality.
