Viitalii Vavryshchuk is appointed Director of the Financial Stability Department on March 10, 2015. The Director of Financial Stability Department is a member of the NBU Monetary Policy Committee due to his capacity.
Vitalii Vavryshchuk has over ten years experience in macroeconomic analysis and research of the banking sector. In 2003 he obtained master's degree in economic theory at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” and Kyiv School of Economics (KSE). He worked as an economist in the Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE Ukraine) and as an analyst in the investment companies Dragon Capital and Concorde Capital. Starting from 2012 and till his appointment to the National Bank of Ukraine, he was the head of analytical division at SP Advisors.
Commenting on his appointment, Vitalii Vavryshchuk said that he is ready to intense and constructive work to restore the confidence of businesses and population in the national financial system. "Today the NBU’s team is facing, without exaggeration, an ambitious challenge - to lay a new foundation of stable financial system, which is a prerequisite for sustainable economic growth in Ukraine. I am ready to join this case and I will do my best to build an effective and reliable financial sector", Vitalii Vavryshchuk said.

Financial Stability Department of the National Bank of Ukraine exercises the functions of macroprudential supervision and banking sector regulation. The primary objective of this department is banking sector systemic risks analysis, macroprudential policy tools development aimed to prevent systemic crisis and minimize the negative effects of macroeconomic shocks. Its functions also include developing tools to model stress tests for specific banks, as well as for the banking sector as a whole.
