Oleksandr Skomarovskyi becomes Director of the NBU Security Department

On May 12, 2015, Oleksandr Skomarovskyi, who has an extensive experience in banking security and irreproachable business reputation, was appointed Director of the Security Department of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The functions of the Security Department of the National Bank of Ukraine include ensuring the internal security within the system of the National Bank, running in-house security guard services, exercising coordination and control over security guard units, ensuring the reliable operation of security facilities, devising and putting in place measures aimed at implementing state policies in the areas of technical protection of information, mobilization training and civil protection within the system of the National Bank of Ukraine.

Commenting on his appointment, Oleksandr Skomarovskyi said: "Being fully aware of the responsibility attached to this position, I intend to devote all my energies and knowledge toward ensuring the comprehensive protection of all the areas of activities of the National Bank of Ukraine and its employees".

Oleksandr Skomarovskyi was born on August 28, 1965. In 1987, he graduated from the Kiev Higher Engineering Radio-Technical College, majoring in Radio-technical facilities and gaining qualification of Wireless Engineer. In 2012, he graduated from the University of Economics and Law 'KROK', majoring in Financial and Economic Security Management and gaining qualification of Financial Security Specialist.

For more than two decades (from 1987 to 2008), Oleksandr Skomarovskyi performed military service in the Armed Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine.

Since 2010, he has been employed in the banking industry. Oleksandr Skomarovskyi worked as Director of the Security Department, Head of the Security Office, and Advisor on Security Issues to the Management Board Chairman at the following banking institutions: VAB BANK PJSC, TERRA BANK PJSC, and Premium PJSCCB.
