By July 2015, the National Bank of Ukraine plans to have  completed a content overhaul of the External Sector Statistics section of its official website, taking into account  the priority attached to statistics compiled in accordance with  the methodology set out in the  6th edition of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (hereinafter – BPM6).

At the end of 2013, the National Bank began publishing data on balance of payments, international investment   position and gross external debt in accordance with the BPM6. At the same time, with the aim of allowing users to become accustomed to the new methodology, the National Bank of Ukraine continued publishing statistical and analytical information compiled  in accordance with the methodology set out in the  fifth edition of the Balance of Payments Manual (IMF, 1993) (hereinafter –  BPM5).

Data covering Q1 2015, notably data presented in a succinct statistical overview, were released with an emphasis on data compiled based on the BPM6 methodology. Starting from data for Q3 2015, external sector statistics will be published only in line with the BPM6 methodology.  The time series data compiled based on the BPM5 methodology will no longer be published.

With the aim of providing a detailed explanation and a comprehensive insight into the main changes to the methodology applied in the compilation of external sector statistics in accordance with the BPM6, we invite users to get acquainted with the presentation materials (Specific Features of the 6th edition of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6)).

Please also be informed that the National Bank of Ukraine discontinues the printed edition of the Balance of Payments and External Debt of Ukraine. However, the relevant information presented in a more user-friendly format will be published in the External Sector Statistics section of the NBU's website and updated on a more frequent basis.
