The National Bank of Ukraine seeks to provide the public with unrestricted access to information about the activities of Ukraine's banking institutions.
To this end, the regulator starts publishing official information about issued banking licenses and types of banking activities on the official website of the National Bank of Ukraine.
From now on, information in respect of each bank, including information about the license issued thereto, approval of types of activities and services rendered by the bank, and a history record of changes will be published in PDF format in the "Banking licenses and types of activities the Ukrainian banks engage in" section of the NBU's website.
In case of changes in the name of the bank, the list of banks published on the NBU's website will contain all the names separately, but the links attached to the different names of one and the same bank will refer to one and the same file in which information about all the changes is recorded (including the bank's renaming).
Information will be updated on a prompt and regular basis, subject to any changes (the issuance of a new license, revocation of a license, changes in the list of types of activities banks are allowed to engage in).
As Director of the NBU Registration and Licensing Department Leonid Antonenko emphasized, this move represents a step forward by the National Bank of Ukraine on the path toward bringing greater transparency to its activities.
According to him, from now on, it will be possible to trace the history of the banks operating in Ukraine or that of the banks that used to operate in the country on the basis of the banking license granted by the National Bank of Ukraine.
“We hope that the publication of information about banking licenses issued to banks and types of banking activities will enable every citizen to exercise the right to access information in a prompt manner,” said Leonid Antonenko.
