The National Bank of Ukraine has granted its approval to the owners of another five banks to acquire a qualifying holding in banks. The decisions to this effect were taken by the Committee on Banking Supervision, Regulation, and Payment System Oversight.
Mr. Volodymyr Matytsyn and Ms. Tetiana Matytsyna have been granted the approval to acquire an indirect qualifying holding of 100% in Industrial and Financial Bank PJSC. At the beginning of 2014, the bank’s nominal owners were 5 non-resident individuals.
Mr. Viktor Pinchuk has been granted the approval to acquire an indirect qualifying holding of 100% in Bank Credit Dnipro PJSC. At the beginning of 2015, the Bank's ownership structure fit the description of a legal arrangement known as a trust that involves the separation of the beneficial ownership of assets (the right to benefit from these assets) from the legal title, or legal ownership of assets (the right to control these assets).
In addition, Mr. Serhii Tihipko has been granted the approval to acquire an indirect qualifying holding of 100% in Tascombank PJSC. At the beginning of 2015, Mr. Serhii Tihipko was not deemed to be a qualifying shareholder in the bank as he was not the controller of Alkemi Limited, a legal entity holding a qualifying stake in the bank.
Mr. Ihor Kolosnitsyn has been granted the approval to acquire a direct qualifying holding of 37.2% in Portal Bank PJSC. The remaining 62.8% stake in the bank is held by Ms. Viktoriia Yefremova.
Mr. Serhii Kasyanov and Ms. Kseniia Kasyanova have been granted the approval to acquire a direct qualifying holding of 37.2% in KSG Bank PJSC. At the beginning of the year, the bank had no qualifying shareholders. The bank’s shares were dispersed among individual shareholders, none of which held more than 10%.
As reported earlier, these five banks were among the banks that were in the final stage of going through a formal procedure of disclosing the ownership structure. Since the beginning of the year, the NBU has granted its approval for the acquisition of a qualifying holding in banks by the owners of 15 banks which were earlier designated by the NBU as having opaque ownership structures. The owners of 11 banks have already formalized their status as qualifying shareholders.
