In 2015, the SEP Fully Met Participants’ Funds Transfer Needs

The National Bank of Ukraine has ensured a high level of security and reliability of interbank settlements in domestic currency effected through the system of electronic payments of the National Bank of Ukraine (the SEP) and provided all the conditions to meet participants’ funds transfer needs.

Director of the NBU Payment Systems Department Ms Natalia Lapko said in 2015 298,774 thousand initial payments totaling UAH 17,750 billlion were effected through the SEP.

The interbank money transfers are effected through the SEP in a batch mode and a real-time mode. In 2015, 297,432 thousand initial payments worth UAH 9,724 billion were effected through the SEP in a batch mode, whereas 1,341 thousand initial payments worth UAH 8,026 billion were effected in a real-time mode.

276,795 thousand initial payments accounting for 93% of the total amount of initial payments were effected through the SEP by Ukrainian banks and their branches.

On average, 1.2 million initial payments amounting to UAH 71 billion were processed through the SEP daily. 

Daily average ratio of cash circulation on the accounts of the system participants stood at 1.33, whereas average daily balance of funds on the accounts of SEP members amounted to UAH 52.4 billion.

The SEP is a national banking payment system through which interbank funds transfers are effected through accounts opened with the NBU. The NBU is a payment organization and a settlement bank.

The SEP is the only systemically important payment system operating in Ukraine. Over 95% of interbank funds transfers in domestic currency are effected through this payment system within Ukraine.
