Within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, a Ukrainian delegation has met with Ms Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

During a meeting, the Ukrainian delegation stated that it highly appreciates the support provided by the IMF to Ukraine under the Extended Fund Facility Arrangement.  The sides discussed the progress made by Ukraine in implementing reforms, Ukraine’s economic development and the 2016 budget approval. During the meeting, a special emphasis was placed on further cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF.

“We have had a constructive meeting with Ms Lagarde. We are set to finalize technical issues with an IMF mission in the coming days and hopefully our program will soon presented to the IMF's Executive Board for approval.  “Our strategic objective is to continue cooperation with the IMF, which is critical for ensuring financial stability in the country and implementing comprehensive structural reforms,” said NBU Governor Ms Valeria Gontareva.

The Ukrainian delegation expressed a keen interest in a speedy completion of the second review under the Extended Fund Facility Arrangement and stressed its readiness to render assistance  in every way possible to secure a decision by the IMF to send a mission to Ukraine as soon as possible.
