This year the revamped 100 hryvnia bill has entered the International Paper Money Competition to recognize an exceptional banknote issued each year. The 100 hryvnia banknote has been nominated for the Banknote of 2015.
The Competition is run by the International Bank Note Society and the Institute of International Monetary Research (the Netherlands) to select the most attractively designed banknote.
Banknotes from around the world issued last year enter this competition each year. The 2015 winners will be announced in April 2016.
The National Bank of Ukraine has officially presented to the international jury the 2014 design 100 hryvnia banknote, which represents an exceptional combination of an enhanced design and security features.
This banknote was issued into circulation on 9 March 2015 in accordance with NBU Board Resolution No. 829, dated 22 December 2014, On Putting the 2014 Design 100 hryvnia Banknote into Circulation.
Given that 10o hryvnia bills remain in circulation for about five years, these banknotes put into into circulation in a gradual manner: the new 100 hryvnia banknotes gradually replace the old ones. Thus, there are more 2015 design 100 hryvnia banknotes in circulation.
There is currently over UAH 55 million worth of 2014 design 100 hryvnia banknotes in circulation.
Presently, there are situations when cashiers due to lack of knowledge and awareness refuse to accept 2014 design 100 hryvnia banknotes. We would like to stress once again that these banknotes are legal tender in the territory of Ukraine.
Please note that the 2014 design 100 hryvnia banknote shall be accepted at its face value by all natural persons and legal entities without any limitation.
These banknotes circulate in parallel with 1996 and 2005 design 100 hryvnia banknotes.
