The commemorative coin "UEFA EURO 2012TM Poland - Ukraine" wins the People's Choice award at the Seventh International Contest of Commemorative Coins "Coin Constellation-2013"

The results of the contest were announced and the Awarding Ceremony of the Seventh International commemorative coins contest “Coin Constellation-2013” took place on September 26-28, 2013 in Moscow at the Fourth International Coin Conference and Exhibition COINS-2013.

The coins from 30 countries (over 270 commemorative coins and 28 coin series), which were put into circulation from 1 January till 31 December 2012, were entered in the Contest.

"It gives me great pleasure to announce that the commemorative coin "UEFA EURO 2012TM Poland - Ukraine" has won the People's Choice award at the Seventh International Contest of Commemorative Coins "Coin Constellation-2013"," said Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Vira Rychakivska.

Ms Vira Rychakivska has said that the contest is traditionally held in nine major categories. The coin winner in each category, second and third place winners are determined by the absentee voting of the contest committee.

The tenth category, People’s Choice Award, is selected on the basis of the results of the open online voting at the numismatic website. The coin that gets the most votes wins the People’s Choice Award.

"I am genuinely pleased with this result. Undoubtedly, active support from enthusiastic citizens who took part in the online voting led the coin to win the People’s Choice Award. I think that the commemorative coin "UEFA EURO 2012TM Poland - Ukraine", which is dedicated to an important sporting event, deserves this award. The commemorative coin of double face value (10 hryvnias and 10 złotych) is the culmination of long years of work put in by the National Bank of Ukraine and the National Bank of Poland," noted Ms Vira Rychakivska.

In addition, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Vira Rychakivska has noted that the National Bank of Ukraine takes its responsibilities surrounding the issuance of commemorative coins very seriously. She said: "The main principles that guide us are adherence to high quality standards and creation of artistic designs for coins. Numerous awards that our commemorative coins have won at the international contests and festivals, including the People’s Choice Award of the "Coin Constellation-2013" Contest, have proved their high quality.

Ms Vira Rychakivska said that the National Bank of Ukraine had struck over 400 thousand pieces of commemorative coins in the first nine months of 2013. Since the start of the year, the National Bank of Ukraine had put 27 types of coins (18 names) into circulation, including 12 silver coins, 14 coins made of non-precious metals (12 coins made of German silver and 2 bimetal coins), and one gold coins. Ms Vira Rychakivska also said that the NBU numismatic products enjoyed great popularity and added: "Given the growing public demand for numismatic products of the National Bank of Ukraine, we strive to make them more accessible to the general public by improving production technology, broadening the product range and expanding the network of sales offices."

It should be noted that some coins submitted by the National Bank of Ukraine to the "Coin Constellation-2013" Contest have won awards in different categories of the Best Coin of the Year Contest.
