National Bank of Ukraine Launches Online Ordering Service Enabling Numismatists to Order Commemorative Coins Online

On 6 September 2016, the National Bank of Ukraine launches an automated ordering system designed to enable individuals to order commemorative coins online. The system will be launched on a pilot basis.

The online ordering service will make it easier for numismatists to purchase commemorative coins issued by the NBU. Pre-ordering guarantees that pre-ordered coins will be available for pick-up and purchase.  This service will facilitate a more  efficient distribution of coins across  regions and enable numismatists to expand their coin collections with new coins.

The online ordering service  will be first made available for accepting  online  orders  for a 5 hryvnia  “Ukraine Begins from You” commemorative coin to be put into circulation on 12 October 2016. Going forward, the service will be extended to all commemorative coins that will be put into circulation   according to the plan for issuance of commemorative and investment coins, as well as souvenir products. The number of coins allocated for sale through the online ordering system will be established separately for each commemorative coin.

An individual will be able to order coins by filling in a Registration Form online. Once an order is placed through the  online ordering system, an individual will receive an order confirmation email with the order number, acknowledging that the order has been accepted.

Pre-ordered coins will be available for pick-up and purchase  at the cash circulation  division (Office) of the regional office specified in the Order  within one month from the date of issue  of the coin or from the date of receipt of the coin by the division (Office). An individual is required to provide the order number  and show a passport or any other ID document to purchase the pre-ordered coins. If within one month from the date of putting the coin into circulation a customer has failed to purchase the pre-ordered coin, the order shall be cancelled.

The NBU retains the right to reject the order placed by an individual, if the required information provided in the registration form is incomplete or erroneous.

The online ordering service will be run on a pilot basis for two months. Once the service is fit for use, it will become fully operational.
