Ukraine repays the last installment of the IMF loan in 2013

On 12 November 2013 the National Bank of Ukraine remitted USD 359.2 million (in the equivalent)* to the International Monetary Fund, thus ensuring complete and timely fulfillment of Ukraine’s obligations under Stand-by Arrangement (SBA) facility for this year.

Therefore, according to the loan repayment schedule, in 2013 Ukraine repaid a total of USD 5,602.9 million (in the equivalent) to the International Monetary Fund.

‘Ukraine has proved to the entire international community its status of a credible borrower, and will continue fulfilling its obligations in a timely fashion’, Ihor Sorkin, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine said.

According to Mr. Sorkin, in 2014 the total amount of loan repayments to the International Monetary Fund will be much lower than this year, only US 3,663.4 million (in the equivalent).

As for the year 2015, it will be the last year for IMF loan repayments. The amount due in that year will be the lowest during the life of the loan agreement, amounting to USD 1,484.5 million (in the equivalent).
