The Ukrainian commemorative "Euromaidan" made from German silver has successfully advanced to the final stage of the Best Coin of the Year international competition, where it competed in the category “Best artistic solution".
This competition is organized by Krause Publications, the world’s leading publisher of series of numismatic catalogs.
The competition results were announced at the 46th World Money Fair, which was held on 4-6 February in Berlin (Germany) where the National Bank Of Ukraine honorably presented its numismatic program.
100 coins issued by the Mints and national banks around the world entered the final stage of this prestigious competition, meaning that these coins have won recognition for their themes, design and marketing.
The commemorative coin “Euromaidan” released by the NBU is dedicated to the protest actions that took place in Ukraine that took place in November 2013-February 2014 and were full of the aspiration for changes, for the European direction of our country development.
The NBU is grateful to the international experts for their high appreciation of high coin quality and the artistic representation of ideas and congratulates the coin designers and engravers on winning international recognition for their achievements.
As a side note, in 2000, the silver commemorative coin "Christmas" was recognized as the most inspiring coin in this competition.

The World Money Fair is a traditional and the largest gathering that brings together coin producers, dealers from more than 50 countries.
This international fair is also the first event that opens a new year in the numismatic world.
The main idea of this event is to present to its participants collections of coins issued, existing and new numismatic programs, annual plans and technologies.
Over 60 central banks and mints from around the world participated in this year’s fair.
Over 330 exhibits were showcased by coin producers, including those engaged in manufacturing coin minting equipment, semi-finished goods, packaging, as well as those that represent transnational corporations, dealers and second-market numismatic distributors.
The event was attended by over 15,000 participants.
