On February 22, 2014, the National Bank of Ukraine hosted a meeting between the members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Finance and Banking (hereinafter – the Committee) meet the senior managers of the National Bank of Ukraine.

During the meeting, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Ihor Sorkin informed the Committee members about the current state of the money market and the banking system, and pressing issues that need to be addressed and require joint efforts from the Committee and the National Bank of Ukraine.

In addition, Mr Ihor Sorkin has noted that the common task of the National Bank of Ukraine and the Committee is to make every effort to strengthen public confidence in the banking system. 

The Committee members, on their part, backed the regulatory measures taken by the National Bank of Ukraine, which are aimed at stabilizing the situation in the money market. They have assured that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the assistance of the Committee is committed to supporting constructive proposals to ensure stability of the monetary unit of Ukraine and promote the development of the banking system.
