NBU will Inform Monthly about Applied Corrective Measures, Indicating Names of Violating Banks

From December 2017, the NBU starts monthly publication of information on applied measures to banks for violating the compliance monitoring legislation, which will include the name of the bank, the measures applied to it, and a brief description of the violations for which such corrective measures have been applied.

Starting from August 2016, the National Bank of Ukraine on a monthly basis has disclosed information on corrective measures applied to banks for violation of compliance monitoring legislation. Before that, such data were treated as restricted information. However, the NBU Board decision dated 25 August 2016 lifted the restrictions from general information on the application of corrective measures. Starting from December of the current year, the disclosures become even more extensive.

The decision to expand the disclosures has been taken in the light of Article 60 of EU Directive 2015/849 dated 20 May 2015 on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing (EU's Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive), as well as section F paragraph 26 subparagraph d of the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies, which is an annex to the Letter of Intent dated 2 March 2017, signed by the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine and the NBU Governor.
