On 23 April 2018 the next open research seminar will be held in the National Bank of Ukraine. Participants of the event will learn the preliminary results stated in “Monetary policy under disagreement” paper by Oreste Tristani, senior advisor of Directorate General Research in the European Central Bank, and David Vestin, senior advisor of Research Division, Monetary Policy Department in the Sveriges Riksbank.
During the seminar, Dr. Vestin will discuss the consequences of announcing its interest rate forecast by a central bank. In their research, authors explore the ability of a relatively standard new Keynesian model to produce the observed in data discrepancy between market expectations and central bank intentions on interest rate, when both the private sector and the central bank receive the signals of underlying economic shocks. The preliminary results of this study suggest that not publishing central bank forecast would cause even larger output and inflation fluctuations.
The seminar’s working language will be English.

The seminar starts at 2pm. The registration of participants will take place from 1.45 p.m. to 1.55 p.m.
All participants are required to have IDs.

The application deadline is 10 am on 23 April 2018. Given the limited number of available seats, the NBU reserves the right to accept or reject applications. Each participant will receive an email saying whether their application has been accepted or rejected.

These seminars provide an opportunity to the representatives of the academic and expert community, international financial institutions, other central banks, and the NBU to share their research findings, and to discuss them with their peers.
