Yakiv Smoliy appointed as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine

On April 25, Mr Yakiv Smoliy was appointed as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The newly appointed Deputy Governor's responsibilities will include devising and implementing the NBU strategy and policy regarding the development of information technology infrastructure, determining the policy rules governing the operation of payment systems and cashless settlements, as well as carrying out oversight of payment systems and settlement systems.

Mr Yakiv Smoliy was born on February 1, 1961. In 1983, he graduated from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where he majored in Applied Mathematics. Mr Yakiv Smoliy has a PhD in economics. He has held managerial positions at the NBU regional branch in Ternopil Oblast, Ternopil radio plant Orion PJSC, and Bank Aval JSB.
