The Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine meets the Head of the Supervisory Council of Alfa-Bank (Ukraine), Chairman of the Board of Directors at Alfa Banking Group

On 3 November 2011, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Sergiy Arbuzov met Petr Aven, Head of the Supervisory Board, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Alfa Banking Group.

During the meeting Petr Aven informed the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine that the Alfa Group Consortium has already invested USD 5.4 billion in different branches of Ukraine’s economy. He viewed the agreements reached by the National Bank of Ukraine concerning the possibility of making payments to Russian companies in rubles  as an important and positive step which would help to enhance the liquidity of banks in hryvnias and avoid currency fluctuations, especially when settling accounts with OJSC.

Sergiy Arbuzov highly appreciated the efficient operation of Alfa-Bank in Ukraine and its participation in the projects aimed at developing the national culture and strengthening the international relations and emphasized the importance and need to further boost investments, specifically in the real economy sector.

“We have large-scale development plans and intend to further operate actively in Ukraine owing to fruitful work undertaken by the National Bank of Ukraine, introduction of new financial instruments in the financial market and stability in the country, in spite of the instability in financial markets,” noted Petr Aven, Head of the Supervisory Board of Alfa Banking Group.

The issues related to enhancing investments in the country’s economy, possibility to diversify payments and development plans of Alfa Banking Group in Ukraine were discussed at the meeting.
