The high number of requests submitted to the National Bank of Ukraine in the first half of 2014 is a clear indication of openness and transparency of the National Bank of Ukraine's activities

In the first half of 2014, the National Bank of Ukraine received 8, 874 requests from citizens (in the first half of 2013 – 3, 261 requests). These figures suggest a 2.7 fold increase in the number of citizens' requests, as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.

81.4% of requests were submitted by citizens. The remaining requests came from the government authorities and other requesters.

An increase in the number of requests received by the regulator can be explained by greater openness and transparency of the National Bank of Ukraine's activities.

In most cases, the citizens in their requests raised issues related to the banking supervision, the relationship arising out of loan or deposit agreements, foreign exchange regulation and foreign exchange control, payment systems and settlement, etc.

To date, the National Bank of Ukraine has satisfied 80% of requests and given clarification with regards to these requests. 11.28% of requests are currently under consideration.

The National bank of Ukraine gives careful consideration to all the requests it receives and handles them in accordance with the applicable law.
