On 8 December 2011, the National Bank of Ukraine hosted a working meeting between Ihor Sorkin, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, and Peter Tils, CEO for Central and Eastern Europe, Regional Management, Deutsche Bank AG.
Advisor to Chairman of Deutsche Bank Dietmar Stüdemann and Chairman of the Board of OJSC "Deutsche Bank DBU" Seryogin Konstantin participated in the meeting. The main goal of the meeting was to discuss the future strategy regarding operation of Deutsche Bank AG in Ukraine.
Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Ihor Sorkin thanked the representatives from Deutsche Bank AG for providing an opportunity to discuss the development strategy of Deutsche Bank AG in Ukraine and emphasized the importance of conducting a dialogue for exchanging thoughts and discussing overall tasks within the framework of Ukrainian-German cooperation in the banking sphere.
"Today the National Bank of Ukraine has established a practice of inviting the senior managers of the European banks to discuss their development strategy in Ukraine for the future and get the information regarding the bank’s plans for the near future straight from the horse's mouth," he said.
Peter Tils, CEO for Central and Eastern Europe, Regional Management, Deutsche Bank AG, reported that Deutsche Bank AG had been operating in Ukraine for 3 years and had considerably extended the range of its business activity.
"Given this year’s financial results, which appeared to be better than we expected, we see positive opportunities in the coming year and plan to ramp up our presence in Ukraine, both in the banking sphere and attractive investment projects,” assured Peter Tils.
"We are pleased to hear that Deutsche Bank AG intends to further develop its business in Ukraine and shows interest in Ukraine as its business partner. The National Bank of Ukraine follows closely the steps taken by Deutsche Bank AG in Ukraine and can see considerable progress in your activity," noted Ihor Sorkin.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of constructive discussions; all attendees emphasized the importance of holding such meetings and expressed an interest in maintaining a constant bilateral dialogue.
