Announcement: Open Research Seminar on (Dis-) Aggregate Consumption and Monetary Policy

On 18 February 2019, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) together with Kyiv School of Economics will host an open research seminar in which Mr. Michael Dobrew will discuss monetary policy in an economy where households consume goods with various degrees of price flexibility.

This time Mr. Dobrew from Princeton University will present the paper (Dis-) Aggregate Consumption and Monetary Policy. The author conducts the following analysis:

  • Mr. Dobrew empirically shows that households consume disproportionately more sticky price goods in response to intensive margin income increases.
  • Using a multi-sector New Keynesian model Mr. Dobrew analyzes the implications for the trade-off between inflation and output-stabilization.

Mr. Michael Dobrew is a PhD candidate in the Department of Economics at Princeton University. His research interests focus on Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics and Banking.

The research papers are available at link.

The seminar will be held in English.

Location: National Bank of Ukraine, 9, Instytutska St., Kyiv, Room 206. Please use the NBU’s central entrance to access the venue.

The seminar will start at 3 p.m. Registration of participants will take place from 2:45 to 2:55 p.m. The NBU is a restricted access facility and photo identification is required to be admitted.
