Because of russia’s ongoing military aggression against Ukraine, the Bank for International Settlements has suspended the central bank of russia from participating in BIS activities. The National Bank of Ukraine welcomes this decision by the world’s oldest international financial organization, which is also known as the Bank of Central Banks.
The BIS decision to restrict the russian central bank’s access to all of BIS meetings, services, and activities comes after the NBU appealed to this international financial institution to take such action.
“We are immensely grateful to our partners for joining the global push to introduce sanctions against the aggressor country,” said NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko.
